Theme 6. Seminar, March 21-23, 2024

Ph.d. candidate of Theme 6 presented a presentation titled “The Forum of Ostia in a Diachronic Perspective. The Republican Phases” at the colloquium L’Ottavo Seminario Ostiense – Ostia prima del II sec. d.C. Un porto, una città, un territorio. Organised by Alessandro D’Alessio, Nicolas Laubry, Grégory Mainet, Thomas Morard and Françoise Van Haeperen and the institutions École francaise de Rome, Academia Belgica and Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica.

Theme 6. Colloquium, July 12, 2023

The Ph.D. candidate of Theme 6 is going to present the newest and almost final research in the summer colloquium of Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg at 18.00. The presentation will be held in room HS 1015 (KG I). The colloquium is organished by Institut für Archäologische Wissenschaften - Abteilung Klassische Archäologie.

The title is The Forum of Ostia. Architectural Changes in a Diachronic Perspective

Theme 5. Conference, December 1, 2022

The Ph.D. candidate of Theme 5 is going to present his newest research in a joint colloquium between Classical Archaeology of Kiel University and the Centre for Urban Network Evolutions at Moesgaard (Aarhus University).

His title is Architectural Marble Decoration on the Forum of Ostia.

Themes 1 and 6. Conference, November 2-4, 2022

The Ph.D. candidates of Theme 1, and Theme 6, will be presenting their reseach in the conference "Archaeology and Architecture: New Methodologies for XXL Structures of Ancient Rome" at the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) in Rome.

The conference is being arranged by Prof. Dr. Ing. Klaus Rheidt and Ph.D. student M.A. Fabrizio Sommaini (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 1913), both from the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg. The conference is made in collaboration with DAI in Rome.

The conference will start at 15:00 Wednesday November 2 at the DAI, Via Sicilia 136, Rome, and it will also be live-streamed.

Theme 1. Seminar, June 22-24, 2022

The ph.d. candidate of theme 1 will present parts of his research at a seminar in Ostia. The framework of the seminar is Harzard and Distaster Risk: Ostia and Portus between Hypothesis and Reality

The title will be The Capitolium as a source of technical construction know-how and seismic effects

The seminar is arranged by the Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica in cooperation with the Humboldt-University of Berlin and the Gerda Henkel Stiftung and organised by Alessandro D'Alessio, Laura Pecchioli and Roberto Meneghini.

Themes 4 and 6. Seminar, May 20, 2022

The ph.d. candidates of themes 4 and 6 will present parts of their research at a seminar in Odense, Denmark. The framework of the seminar is Sacred Places and Cult in the Greek-Roman World.

The title of theme 4 will be Newest from Altar and Sanctuary in the Forum of Ostia

The title of theme 6 will be A Late Archaic Sanctuary at the Tiber mouth

The seminar is arranged by the Southern University of Denmark (Odense) and organised by Niels Bargfeldt, Jane Hjarl Petersen and Birte Pouslsen. It will be held in Danish, but an antology of the seminar will be published in English. You can find the programme here.

Theme 6. Presentation, December 18, 2018

The initial thoughts of Theme 6 were already presented December 18 2018 in the colloquium Ricerche Archeologia alla Foce del Tevere. Seminario internazionale dei dottorandi e dottorati di ricerca.

The presentation was titled Traces of Early Ostia: Perspectives of a Ph.D. Project in the Framework of the Ostia-Forum-Project
